Education is Key
At Consumer Credit Counseling Services, we believe that financial education is an investment in the communities we serve. We have created a range of educational seminars designed to help consumers learn how to manage their money and use credit wisely.
Our series of informative educational seminars last approximately one hour and are lead by qualified and experienced educators. Seminars may be tailored to fit the individual needs of your group or organization.
The following educational programs are offered to companies, employers, libraries and civic groups. To schedule a presentation, please call 866.745.2227.
There’s something for everyone
For the community
Community workshops provide financial and credit education opportunities in the community. Those individuals that could benefit from financial literacy most often lack the resources necessary to attend such programs. The Centers for Financial Education partner with community agencies to coordinate and teach financial and credit education at locations convenient to those agencies' clients.
In the workplace
We provide personal financial education in the workplace. Research reveals that financial education has a positive impact on employees. According to a 1999 research study conducted by Virginia Tech's National Institute for Personal Finance Employee Education (NIPFEE), financial education and financial advice positively impacts worker's money behaviors and attitudes. Financially troubled employees are absent more than others and two-thirds of employees deal with financial matters at work. "It's smart business to provide employees access to targeted financial information, education and advice programs that enable them to improve their financial behaviors and well-being because financially well employees are the employer's very best employees." E. Thomas Garman, Professor Emeritus, Virginia Tech University
School programs
Our school programs are designed to teach children the basic financial skills of money management. Generally speaking, money management is not a required course for high school graduation. Since students are not learning these important life skills in school, many young people graduate without the skills they need to be financially independent, responsible, and successful adults.
Train the Trainer
This is a money management series especially designed for social service providers and community development organizations. This series helps organizations add value to the services they provide their clients. It equips social service providers with the skills they need, and tools they can use, to teach money and credit management basics to their clients.
